Description

Have heard around the art world that AI is suspect or unfavored and I'm not sure why that is. It is " computer generated" art just like computer rendering of digital models is computer generated art. The sketch artists and painters and sculpturers probably felt the same way when computer modeling, sculpting and digital rendering appeared to take over the art world too. Imagination is still the key element. As for me, 80% of my work is photo manip in photoshop and sometimes coupled with a computer render of a digital model or two. This is then all combined according to my vision by my skills in photoshop. AI just makes my photo manip work easier and opens the imagination door a little wider. I am taking more time to scratch my surreal itch since I went part time. I am having a lot of fun exploring AI through my surreal brain and happy to see all the Regulars still here and hope to meet and appreciate the art of the new artists. TFL :)

Oh yes, I've also noticed many people bashing 'n trashing AI, but what's the point? They would do far more good by bashing 'n trashing processed factory food which took over fresh locally produced food. AI is more like a washing machine replacing a washboard, and is here to stay --- and those who wish to paint by hand and brush will still have the freedom to do so!

I love the mystic feel of this combined with the hard / sharp geometry of the structures - and the light and colors are a perfect match. Nice!

I don't use AI much myself, but have had a bit of fun playing with the Photoshop - Firefly AI. And I have several friends here that use it so I'm not going to bash anyone for using it. When I use it, I'll just consider it another tool in my art tool-box.

I think the main issue a lot of folks had / have with it was just the idea of anyone (with or without any artistic skills or abilities) just typing in a sentence or two, letting the AI do the "work" then posting it as "their" artwork. But like max- said above, what's the point? Just move on..

Yes, it can take me anywhere from a couple hours to a couple days to create something using Poser and Photoshop. I can't count the times I've spent more than a day putting together a single frame for my TNA comic. But that's what I enjoy doing. Why should I trash someone else just because they took 15 minutes to create an AI image if that's what they enjoy?

We all do this for enjoyment and relaxation here at Rendo. There's more than enough stress and conflict in this world already.

Sheesh.... End of sermon..... 🤣

All art comes from the imagination, whether you are skilled with words, intimate knowledge of computer software, clay, oil paint, charcoal or 3D modeling and animation. If it takes a year to skulpt in stone or 15 minutes to verbally depict what is in your head to a generating app.... it all starts in the brain first. And because it ALL starts from there, judging or condeming or dismissing one method for another is pointless. Art sales bare the price of the medium and skill. It will cost you a ton of money for a modern statue and not as much for a lithograph of a computer generated image of a duck dressed like elvis...they are both "art". They both began as an idea in the brain, realizing the idea to fruition thru whatever means necessary does not deminish the "IDEA" or the finished piece. .....ok I'm done too lol

Love your input on AI. Nearly mirrors mine. :-) And it can take days to get what you want....not just 15 minutes. lol This is a wonderful image. Love it.
