Description

Wearily trudging through the forest and battle worn giant found a large, by human standard's, stump to rest against. His tired stiff joints cracked and popped as he sat down against it. Sighing deeply he closed his eyes, though only one was in need of closing, the only had been blinded a long time ago. Catching his breath, behind him his keen ears caught something. A soft cooing, like that of a dove. Frowning he looked around, the forest was eerily silent in this part, which disturbed him slightly. As he looked around he saw that somehow there was only a soft beam of light upon the stump and the rest is darkness. Perplexed he looked around. There was another coo. Pinpointing the sound he ever so slowly turned around. As he did his eyes lowered, and widened. A tiny and delicate fairy lay upon the stump sound asleep. How small she was, was the first thought in his mind. How could something so tiny and delicate survive in this world of giants? Upon hands and knees and inched closer lowering himself to her level. Her velvety soft moth patterned wings twitched and flapped softly as she dreamed. His battle worn face slowly smiled. She was so beautiful for one so small. Rarely did a fairy stay around him long enough for him to get a good look, he being a rather fearful looking giant and all. "If only I could touch her." he thought to himself. "But she'd awaken, and flee, never would I see her again. Then again maybe she'll see the good within me and stay, I won't know if I don't take the chance." he thought sternly. Slowly and ever so gently his great hand crept forward. The utmost care his finger grazed her back careful not to harm her fragile wings. His smile widened and he caressed her side. Suddenly she rolled over, startling him, but before he could pull away her tiny hands clasped his finger and put it to her chest. Sighing softly he shifted and blanketed her with his hand. He leaned down over her. "I will make sure not a soul harms you my little one." he whispered so softly. A smile formed upon her slumbering face. "Thank you, my great one." her sweet voice whispered back. Thanks for looking and reading. I'd really like to see this one maybe even attempt to get on the top 20, but hey it is doesn't I still love it. Thank again comments are welcome!
