This is - personal Opinion - a very sad Image, though none could see it: How can these evolved, proud Creatures of wide, high and mighty Ranges be cornered in a tiny Enclosure! So to lay on Top is there smallest Remembrance! Thanks for sharing, tough!

That's true, though at the same time, they also are better fed and safer than they are in the wild. Might not make up for the loss of freedom, but it's hard to ask them which they prefer.

This is a wise "both and" Attitude and You have some Points in that. But crucial is: We dont know! Doe we have the Right to do so! (This especially for Species like Apes!) :/

Yeah, and there's the crux of it. Especially for some species who are critically endangered. We've destroyed their habitats to the point they can't live outside of captivity, but is that really living? :/ Hard to say.
