Description
Dark and rainy is the night,
There's no a star in a' the carry;
Lightning gleams athwart the lift,
And the cauld winds drive wi' winter's fury.
O! are ye sleepin', Maggie?
O! are ye sleepin', Maggie?
Let me in, for loud the linn
is roarin' o'er the warlock craigie!
From the song by Robert Tannahill (1174-1810)
This is my first lightning. Any tips to improve it will be appreciated. I drew it in Jasc Paint
Shop Pro 7.
BTW: He gets the girl and nobody's murdered, unusual for a Scottish folksong :0)

Wonderful mood, and thank you for the song :-) Very good job with the postwork lighting, no I do not have any hints (never made a good light my self, but did some experiments and looked at different lighting photos. It is correct that the core is so very bright, but also that the strong light source it is lights up its surroundings very much (good on the top here). One thing I tried with some effect (in my postwork experiments) was to add a copy of the ligth as a new layer behind the light, set it down in oppasy and manually blur/smudge it to get some "glow" from it. But it actually also should light up the nearest mountains. Just an idea. Lovely dark mood :-)
