Description
The Royal Montreal Golf Club is a golf course located on Île Bizard, in Montreal, Canada. Opened in 1873, it is the oldest golf club in North America. The golf course underwent several moves and expansions during the 19th and 20th centuries, the most notable change being in 1959, when the club moved from Dixie to Île-Bizard, where 45 holes were built by Dick Wilson, a renowned golf course architect.
Le Club de golf Royal Montréal est un terrain de golf situé sur l'île Bizard, à Montréal au Canada. Inauguré en 1873, il est le plus ancien club de golf en Amérique du Nord. Le terrain de golf connaît plusieurs déplacements et extensions au cours du XIXe siècle et XXe siècle, le changement le plus notable étant celui de 1959, le club déménagea de Dixie à l’Île-Bizard, où 45 trous furent construits par Dick Wilson, architecte de parcours de golf reconnu.

Interesting history! I live a short walk away from the location of the old Clubhouse, which was in the west end of Lachine, Quebec - also known as Dixie.
