had a tree in my moms backyard like this. also a deadly spiked thorn tree. the branches were like the one Jesus had on his head, they were at least 2/12 3/12 long and strong as a nail..

This might have been "Gleditsia trIacanthos", Honey Locust, but the Images shows - in my Opinion - the indian Bean-Tree, Catalpa bignonioides! ;)

Looks like a Catalpa to me :D We have tons of them around here.

I see them around lots but have no idea the name! You all are so much better at IDs than me and I appreciate the help in the naming :)
