Description

Drawn on A4 paper in pencil and hangs on the wall in the parents house. The man in the picture is my Father and Mentor. Yup, he even critized this picture. Heh. Oh, well, cant please everyone all the time I guess. *Shrug*. So whats the moral of the story? Never draw portraits of a family member. Never draw portraits of your art teacher, he is bound to find something wrong with your work. (:^p)

When your father looks at himself in the mirror he will see something different, so it's nice to have a son/daughter, to be able to show how others can see him! It's a nice portrait!

Portraits are always difficult to please others, because they impact on the self perceivement and vision every single person has about himself or herself. Even the greatest artists of the past have been criticized by their committing clients about the way they realized their portraits (Raphael, just to say one).. but this you show has a quality definitely. The thoughtfullness but also the delicate and protective sight of your father's looks is so mighty.I like it very much :)

I know the feeling about complaining. No one sees themselves as the artist sees them and thus it's more hassle than it's worth to do portraits of "real" people that you know or commission, beyond just practice. At least celebrities don't generally complain. :) Awesome pencil work by the way...

This is wonderful! The proportions are right on and the rendering of the lines on the face are awesome!

That's why I don't do portraits, people seldom see themselves the way others do. The drawing is very good, don't let others criticizim slow you down.
