Description
The Sibling to Apollon, Artemis, Goddess of Woods, Guardian of Wildlife and Children. She appears as a tall, slender young Woman of athletic Figure. As Apollon shoots the fiery Arrows of the Sun with his golden Bow, her Bow is made of Moonlight, the Arrows are the cold Beams of the Moon. Hunters claimed her to be their Patron, but as we see here in an old Copy from Greece, on the contrary she defends those roaming in the Wild against human Maltreatment.
She was often mingled with and mistaken to be cruel Hekate, cold Selene or even dark Persephone, but thats all human Confusion!
This Statue is a virtual Copy of a french Copy of an greek Statue by Leochares circa 400 BC. An Arm was missing and the Bow. The Bow I reconstructed from macedonian References from 500 BC. It might have had a Draw-Weight of more than 120 lb, worthy of a Goddess!
Have a good Day and respect those living in the Wilderness, not to become a Target to the Anger of immortal Artemis ! ;)
