Description
The Capitol Theater exists in a small town in Ohio. 30 years ago, while I was working my first studio, my partner and I created a mural inside the theater. That was my jam back in the day - large scale paintings and billboards (yes, they were hand painted way back when). While we created lots of murals in the early to mid 90's, that particular mural is the last one remaining. To celebrate the 30th anniversary the theater held a small celebratory party, and I donated a new piece of art that was revealed. This image is that piece of art.
The original mural contained lots of celebrities seated in a theater looking back towards the viewer. This piece adds to the experience with a new celebrity, and includes the neon sign as it existed then. Of course Rocket is screwing it all up;).
Created using Photoshop, an old photograph of the original sign and building, and Bryce to recreate the shape of the sign and lettering, The final installation of the new art is 4ft wide, framed in a steel gallery frame, and includes museum quality glass (which is far more expensive than you might know).
Thanks for viewing!
