Description
They stood within the observation gangway, staring out over the flight deck below.
Beyond the open bay doors, they could see the strange shuttle veering around on approach.
"Such strange vessel designs." The Lieutenant comment in observation. "They don't appear very durable."
"More than you realize." The Old Deck Officer by her side chuckled softly.
"You've been around these people of Earth more than myself." The glanced over curiously. "What do you make of this one?"
His time worn gray eyes narrowed slightly. Past memories seem to rush forward, still sharp in his mind. He had not forgotten her, with an infant in her arms.
"I am holding judgement on this one." His voice was lowered. "Something different, but familiar in his eyes."
"The Silent one?" She knew the history, and all that she had done for them during her short time with them.
"The Silent one." He nodded slowly. "The Admiral was but a young officer then, and you no more than a starting Cadet." He could still remember her face, the wisdom that shown within her eyes. "Her knowledge bested anything we have even now. Much of what we rely upon now that has enabled us to survive this far came from her." He grew silent, a faint scowl upon his face. "But she was searching for something, and with the repairs to her small ship, she was gone."
