Description
Islands - A celebration of the wonderful everyday.
"The thing that I am the most thankful for Savena, is realising that I don't really want anything else, because I have everything that I could ever need. That happened the day I brought you home and ever since I have never worried about anything other than trying to be good enough to be your mother and become all that you could ever want or need" Fae - Islands Excerpt
The Wonderful Everyday.
Islands is unlike any of the other stories that I am writing. It is the sequel to Life Downside Up and focuses on the challenges and beautiful intricacy of adoption.
Savena is taken to Ljianstipol and the Davizioso under false premises to be abandoned by a foster family in the aftermath of learning this Fae decides to adopt Savena as her own child. The story centers around and covers the hardships suffered and endured by both Savena and Fae to become daughter and mother.
Islands is told through two mediums too, one in the real world and another through the digital world with that narrative switching between Fae and Savena respectively.
Islands will also be my first large format story told in a slightly different way, with much smaller chapters than I used in Life Downside Up.
As one piece of feedback that I received from readers (Including my wife) is that while the large chapters are good and people liked them, smaller chapters might help what is a large and long story feel slightly less overwhelming.
So I have been testing writing smaller chapters but without sacrificing the depth of detail that both I and my readers like.
The basic concept behind the story has changed quite a lot over the last six months or so, but now I'm primed to actually get stuck into laying it out and down during 2025.
