Description
Julius Caesar discusses his plans for the invasion of Parthia to the east, to avenge the death of his old ally, Marcus Licinius Crassus and the massacre of Crassus' legions. Caesar intended to send his great nephew, Octavian (later to be the Emperor Augustus) ahead to serve as his contubernalis, or military cadet, to begin recruiting levies of auxiliaries.
