Description

Sunny, but freaking cold! And buried. You've probably all heard or read about the massive winter storm that hit the heartland of the USA. It was a doozy, I concur. The first photo was taken at the height of the blizzard (the first to hit the Kansas City metro since 2018). At full-size you can see the snow. The flakes were tiny, but there were a LOT of them - as you will see in the other photos. The second shot was right outside my garage door. 12 - 14 inches of the stuff. I looked at that driveway with 12 inches of snow front-to-back. I'm 76 right now, and I'd really like to be 77... I am NOT gonna give myself a heart attack shoveling that s###! I called a couple commercial lawn / snow removal companies, but they had phone messages that they were "not accepting any new snow removal clients at this time..." Great. I did a bit of shoveling, and paced myself carefully; also took a few "warm up" breaks. It was around 14 degrees the last 2 days. I shoveled enough to get the gates open, and started the minivan to see how it handled things. It was kind of like "Snow? What snow?" I love this minivan! Anyway, I thought I'd send a few photos just for fun. In between all the stuff here, I am getting the next TNA page together, so don't give up on the Girls! I hope everyone is staying safe, warm, creative, and relatively sane during these loony times. Looks kind of nice ... if I was younger the first thing to pop into my mind would be to build a giant snowman:-) Imagine up north a while back when they got over 5 feet of snow!

That was normal this time of the year for Montreal, where I was born. But MISSOURI? Freaky, deaky!

Wow this is a lot of snow you have there Rod, all in all I would rather have what you have than all the fires happening here in the Los Angeles area of California recently. It's unfortunate you have to shovel it out of the way, just take it easy my friend...easy does it! :-)

OMG, Johnny! I'll take this anytime over those fires, my friend - stay safe! I've seen the news reports and videos - it's like those apocalyptic horror movies! I hope you're far away from those.

Here in Milan (ITALY) it hasn't snowed for several years and I have to say that I miss it a little. A hug RodS 🙋‍♂️

If it has to snow let it snow in January rather than April. We got one snow fall up here in Ontario, so we could say we had a white Christmas, Its been dingy green/brown so far this season, But you guys definitely have a lot more. I really miss the snow dumpings from year past. Like 4-5 feet worth, we just don't see piles of snow like we used to.

Ironically, wildfires are breaking out in Los Angeles' Palisades. Hopefully it'll subside quickly.

Just a tip; once summer comes get a couple of 10lb or 20lb bags of salt if you can. Keeping those in the garage saves a lot of shovelling if a big snow comes, clearing it just becomes a tedious chore rather than hard physical labour. Sprinkle it thinly and do it more than once if needed, you use less of it that way. Buying it in the summer when there is little or no demand is a lot cheaper.

Good to hear that you got through this without any harm, and that the family transport doesn't struggle in the cold!

I look forward to that TNA episode as always. Keep safe!

Hey, thanks for that! LOL I wish I could figure out how to ship all this snow to Los Angeles to help put out all those fires.

So there's where all the snow went. LOL

We hadn't got any snow this season ... at least none that reached the ground to stay some minutes.

Nice photo shoots.

WOW! You have a lot more snow than we do, and we're a lot farther north. Used to be normal for us, back in the day! Take care.

What is that white stuff on the ground? Is it ash from a nearby volcano?

Much the same here, in Greater Cincinnati. I've been knocking monster stalactite-like icicles off my gutters daily since Monday. So, I can definitely relate to the last picture. We've got another snow storm on the way, as I type this. It's most likely already passed through your neck of the woods. Keep warm !!!!

If you wait long enough, the situation will resolve itself without any effort. Anyway, I want a box of that snow. I was watching a video about how to make snow ice cream. Open a little side business and make some money off all that snow. The last time it snowed in Phoenix was 1990 with .02 inches falling.

The winter wonder land. Lots of snow and lots of work to shovel the sidewalk. However, it looks like a nice cloudless day and the sun will make is melt fast.

Thanks for posting your photos. Here in Cape Breton, we occasionally get hit by about 3x what you see in these photos, in a 2 day fall from mid January to late Feb. Shoveling soft snow is cool but mixed with intermittent ice rain, it can get exhausting fast. Note: road salt can be toxic to pets and small wildlife. My sympathy to the folks dealing with massive fires in the USA and Europe.

Same here, last of the one to two inches of snow melted under the rain. Just two or three days of sun here, always grey, fog or rainy.

Great photos! Snow is always more enjoyable for me personally to see photos rather than deal with the real thing. Last real blizzard I had to deal with was in 2011. We got some snow this winter but nowhere near as much as you.
