Description

The European Mantis is found in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It has also been introduced to North America. There is a great variation in the coloration of this Mantis. This is a brown Variant. This European Mantis is a male. The Adult females are generally too large and heavy for their wings to enable a take-off. I once saw on TV a milk white mantis with red accents instantly seize and begin eating what may have been its offspring. The victim as an identical if much smaller version of itself.

Voracious insectivores that are not above cannibalism!
