Description

Simple, Elegant, Sublime Saree Version 1 This week I have been focusing on making a Saree for Ystella, I have already made her outfit for when she appears much later on in this story where her regal attire has been replaced with a simple pair of Dhoti styled trousers and a crudely made halter top but wehn she appears at first in the story, she is a princess, so I wanted to focus on making something suitable for the few images where she will appear in this attire. Ystella and the Morashi people are based on a mix of cultural influences but predominantly Turkey, Bangladesh and India, so I spent a week or so looking up different clothing ideas from all three, wanting to attire Ystella in something quite simple but elegant too and for me the Saree fits that requirement quite perfectly. In essence it's a fairly simple thing, a skirt, a cropped top and a piece of fabric wrapped up and around the waist and shoulder then draped down the back, so very simple but the vibrant colours and general cut of most that I have seen really add a sublime feminine accent to a wearer but without being needlessly exposing them and for me feels like a prefect if quite exotic and enchanting look for a princess. So I spent a day or so making two different versions, the first seen in these images with a slightly higher waistband and a less flared skirt, longer arms and a slightly narrower fabric saree. Colourwise I have played relatively safe just to feel out the garment, though I suspect that I will be more inclined to convert the skirt and top into a much more vivid yellow silk fabric but keep the saree wrap in its deep teal colour. Though my texture is slightly off for the saree wrap as it looks more like a film than a fine silk, almost reflecting perfectly the sky above, though maybe I will just add in a bump of some kind to distort and break up what looks like a solid band slightly more. I built a rough version of the scene though minus a few further characters and a basic background environment to get a feel for the scene and ran a few renders in the lighting that I am planning to use for the image, probably leaning towards the first shown rendered version as I'm looking to get that sunrise feel to the image. Before I toy around too much I will be testing the second version which has a slightly lower waistband and a different neck and arms.
