After the first Vellari meeting Captain Flynt and his team quietly left the colony and returned to the starbase without incident. The next morning Flynt was uneasy, realizing that the Vellari situation may be far more complex than originally thought, so he set up a briefing in the high-security stratcom room with the Admiral and those he trusted most. After Dorothy finally walked in, late as usual, the meeting began. Flynt explained the delicate situation but could not convince the Admiral nor the Earth Federation rep that the Vellari should not be trusted and may pose extreme danger. Dorothy suddenly interrupted the heated debate, "I have an idea ... let's go visit Vellari space and see for ourselves what they're like." Polaris, who had been 'talking' to Dorothy via subspace a million times faster than any human could, took over, "I can take a high-speed deep space stealth ship to Vellari space, deploy AI bot probes and quickly comb dozens of worlds for any useful information about Vellari ... and they'll never even see me coming."
