Description
~Queen Pirate Bêlit~
From the world of Conan the Cimmerian, Robert E Howard wrote a short story called "Queen of the Black Coast" (1934) featuring Bêlit, the pirate queen of the Black Coast, captain of the "Tigress". She was Conan's first true love, meeting in an unexpected way, both being instantly smitten at first sight.
In both Howard's literary and later Marvel comic versions, Bêlit generally wore very little, often depicted as topless wearing only a loincloth. In essence, her minimal clothing was a defining aspect of her character. Unfortunately, her violent demise has deeply impacted Conan, leaving a lasting scar and marking a significant loss in his life.
Due to its epic scope and atypical romance, this story is an undisputed classic of Conan lore and is often cited by Howard scholars as one of his most famous tales.
