Great Backdrop. It gives me the feeling of a thick forest under seige of a terrible fire. The only area that could use a little work is the smooth grassy area to the left of the elk. I think the grass in the foreground would look good in that area also.

Thanks for the wonderful words everyone! I really appreciate it. A bit more credit where credit is due also. This was inspired by a photograph taken by a fire behavior analystnamed of John McColgan. He's from my birthtown of Fairbanks, Alaska so I was doubly attracted to it. To address the couple of critiques, I wasn't happy with the straight line of the shoreline rocks either and tried to mask that some with the boulders. I have to cite memory problems there because my computer really, really didn't like me putting that many rocks in this picture! :o) So, I hesitated to try to manipulate them too much because Bryce tended to lock up when I did. I also worried about the short grass back into the scene. I didn't realize it was as noticible as it is until I looked at the image on a screen that has a different color adjustment than mine. Made me realize mine's way too dark. So, that one slipped by me. You all have no idea how it makes me feel to have such wonderful comments and feedback. I don't pretend to be as good as many who post here but this makes me feel like I'm starting to get on the bus that will eventually make me arrive! :oD

Thanks for the reply, of course you'll only get wonderful comments if your work is wonderful, your picture is superb. Wish I was capable of something similar in Bryce. Practice practice I suppose, wish I had the time! :)

It's an excellent picture, eelie. The flaming background is awesome, but I also like a lot the green highlighted in the back, plus the silhouettes of the animals. Beautiful job.
