Fabulous image! Sorry to hear about your HDD.It's really frustrating to lose files, especially when they can't be replaced. Hope you can recover most of them.

And don't forget to use the coupons LOL! This is great with the atmospheric lighting, you get a cinematic feel here. I really hope she uses those coupons. I hear Max's pizza has the best deep dish.

And sorry to hear about that incident -- no backup, and still using HDD's? Yikes ... very risky! I had degradation and failures of several hard-drives in the past, especially those with heavy use, but about 8 yrs ago I switched to all SSD's, with several backups -- and zero problems. And It's best to keep your DATA on a separate drive, not the c-drive.

There's also might be a small chance that data from a bad HDD can be recovered with some recovery apps.

I use a HDD for cdrive as it has a longer life in theroy than a ssd, as long as you look after it. My Cdrive is only for the programs to run from, I don;t keep any data there at all.

I have an ssd as a Ddrive for Daz runtimes and art stuff only.

I have 2 external drives, 1 for back up of runtimes and Daz render files and the other for 3rd party assets like obj, blend, fbx etc, also 40 yrs of music, all application install files and all my personal files and that was the drive that failed. It was only used for storage and rarely accessed other than to update key files. It was also due to be upgrade next week but not point crying of split binary code. I am fortunate enough to have located a lot of the lost files elsewhere on cd rom and internet but some I will never get back but again I am fortunate as they were mostly 3rd party asset files for Daz and at least I got to use them before I lost them :)

Yes. Pizza! Like resident alien. I am going through the same thing with my computer. Got the blue screen of death. Had a backup, but backups only save data, not programs. Took it in, put in another ESS. As they were working on it another blue screen of death happened. Put in another ESS, reloaded Windows11 and all my programs (33). They tested it and showed it to me. I brought it home, plugged in all my other stuff, turned it on and got the blue screen of death again. Very frustrating. I think I know what is wrong. I'll call them on Monday. Yes, some of the sites for some of the programs are gone, so I can't get those programs working again. I only have programs on my "C" drive and have other drives with different data. So all my files are OK.

That was a great show and I was wondering how you were getting along with your clue screen of death issue?

I am like you, C drive is only for running the programs and all data, files are stored on various other internal and external drives. Seems like I was one drive short to protect everything this time around :)

My sumpathy with your coomputer woes; my rendring rig also died on me a coupleof weeks ago, still inthe throes of rebuilding a working system out of the bits i could salvage, so I feel your pain.

Not a fun place to be and I would be lost if I lost my rig, I have nothing compatible with the current tech to rebuild anything past Windows 7 and maybe not even that anymore.

I got my computer back. Plugged everything in. Turned it on. AAAAh, Blue screen. Back to the shop. They have had it for three days this time. I thought it might be the connector to the C drive. Guess not. I'm getting ready for the Comic Con Art show and can't print out any new art because I need the computer that is in the shop. Good thing I have a bunch of art already set to go.

Darn Bob has to be so frustrating. I thought like you that it was a peripheral based on your previous description of events but looks like the answer is no...Sad about your build up to Comic Con as well but hang in there, at least you have something to present on the day. I really hope this is sorted for you very very soon :)

I'm finally on the computer that was in the shop. Yup! It was the connector from the motherboard to the hard drive. They changed all of them to all the drives. Everything is still messed up with some of the programs. It will be a while till things are running smoothy again. Oh, and resident alien is on again. Where I am it's on Friday on the Sci-fi channel. A funny weird show that I really like.

Double good news, Your PC is home and knew it had to be something like that as your troubles only happened when you added your hardware so glad its sorted except for the sorting out process and cool that Resident Aliens is back. I will check it out to see if its on my my neck of the woods. I love that character :)
