Description

ok, my first time with black and white my first time actually like.... arranging stuff this is what came of it. I think the lighting needs to be fixed the shorter candle is dark black, but looks light because its reflecting the light but I like my candles n thought they would look pretty cool for a picture, and I was tired of taking pictures of eggs and apples heh Anyone have any suggestions for b&w how to get the lighting so it doesnt wash out the subject.... would be preciatttttted :D Thanks :D *oh and on a side note: My ex roomate got these candles for me for my birthday last year because I like that sorta stuff we read the little tags on them after I opened them and realized.. she had just given me funeral candles HAHAH ahem. oh well I still like them :)

cool candles!... are you using a flash or one set away from your camera? the experts should be along shortly with an answer... nice setup though, at first i wasn't sure about the white on the right but i see it balances the white on the table... all in all i think this came out really well- personally i might heighten the contrast for more drama, but that's just me

I had a dorky lil desk lamp pointed in their direction cuz whoever designed my kitchen must have figured we didnt want to see what we were eating :S heh. and I think the flash popped up even though I asked it not to LOL

I like the composition...a rather nice arrangement of objects and the black silky fabric adds a nice touch. Overall I think the image could be a bit sharper...quick run thru unsharp mask filter would do the trick there. I think the lighting is not bad but the contrast is a bit flat.... this can be handled in camera if your camera has a manual mode. You simply adjust the exposure by 1-2 stops to make the blacks black and not 18% grey which is what the camera meter will want to do. If not use an image editing program and adjust the levels to set you white and black points.
