Description

I was so fascinated with these two people, sitting silently and just watching the sea, they seemed completely unaware of everything going on around them. I developed and printed it myself, contrast slightly adjusted in Photoshop. Comments please...I'm not very good at developing my own pics...

I absolutely love this!!!!! So peaceful, touching, melancholic... a fab photo! And hats off to you for developing and printing it yourself. The only thing that I thought could use a bit of improvement is the lack of contrast.

looks wonderful! Interesting balance of rocks and people, b&w just perfect for this scene.

I've tried to do what I can with the contrast, without much luck. The negative is in colour, but I printed it in B/W. I used filters to get higher contrast, but it was really difficult to get it right. Editing it in Photoshop worked, but I lost a lot of detail that I wanted to keep. I'm still trying... :)

I think the "lack" of contrast only makes the picture better. It's softer and more romantic this way. Printing a picture from a colour negative must not make any difference. My experience is that it only makes the different kind of grey shades come out better. I did it myself for a long time. Too bad I don't have the space to set it up again.

Swannie, that was actually my first thought as well. The softness makes it a lot more romantic. But there are some bits of the photo that I think need a bit more contrast....but I don't think it'll be possible, so I'll just keep it this way. :-)
