Description
My third Poser rendering -- an exercise in posing figures.
I need to start learning about lighting. When I render with shadows, much of the picture is obscured in the shadows.
Criticism will be appreciated.

Nice posing. As for the shadows, you might want to turn the shadows off on the walls and ceiling. That should help solve the problem of having your image bathed in shadows.

Lighting a scene properly in Poser requires most of the same skills you would need to light a movie set or a video shoot. Look around on the web and you'll find lots of info on how to do basic lighting techniques, which should get you started. Learn the lingo if you don't know it already. Finding out how they do it in real life will help you light your Poser scenes with great results. Remember, all lighting is fakery. Check out the link below to DV Magazine (registration required to get into the site, but well worth it) for a great article on the subject. It's about how to use lots of light to shoot night scenes. You can skip over the technical stuff if you don't understand it and still get a lot of good tips. Just pay attention to what he says about the color of the lights and their placement. At the end of the article is a glossary of lighting terms. You might want to read that first, then go back and read the article. Good luck! http://www.dv.com/features/features_item.jhtml?LookupId=/xml/feature/2002/jackman1002
