I'm going to venture a guess that it's a C-47 transport plane (simular to the type Airborne Paratroopers jumped out of in WW2) modified for civilian flights. Nice photo!

Velo - that's what I was thinking too...reminded me of a DC3 (isn't that the civilian variant)? Then again, used to seeing photos of them in the air or from the side. :)

That's indeed a DC3. I tell you, it's an experience to fly with one of those machines. The growl from the engine, the cranking in the hull. shivers Oh, those where the days.

Great pic. My dad flew DC3's and Connies outfitted for spraying operations when I was a kid. In fact, the first time I ever flew with him was in a DC3. This brings back some great memories! Thank you! :)
