Description

Hi everybody. This is the first set of buildings I modelled in Bryce for my ElectriCity project. I'm planning to do, in time, a whole city environment. Modelling these from scratch was big fun, so I'm going to make others. And, as soon as my website will be online (couple of weeks), they'll go immediately in the FreeStuff for whoever wants to use them. Here's a brief description of each. At the bottom of each rendered image there's a bunch of standard-sized Bryce trees to give a quick scale reference. ***___*** Top left: Cylinder Tower. An apartment tower (where was hidden the Hero), made mostly with cylinders multireplicated for the floors, vertical cylinders for the beams, plus three big transparent cylinders booleaned for the panoramic terraces. The base and top are enlarged cylinders, and one big cylinder slightly reduced goes the whole height for the reflecting glass surface. Polygon count 3392. ***___*** Top right: The Hexagon Tower. Office building made with hexagons multireplicated. The beams are stretched cubes positioned at each vertex of the hexagons. The proceedings for the Base, Top and Internal Glass Surface are more or less the same of the previous one. Polygon count 1558. ***___*** Bottom left: Simple highrise. My first try at modelling a skyscraper. Very simple, it consists of two flattened cubes grouped to form a large cross-like shape and then multireplicated way up to the top. Base and Top as the previous, internal glass as the previous. Polygon count 1010. ***___*** Bottom right: The TwoHalves Tower. This is the more complex of all four: the main structure is a cylinder cropped in two slices. The windows are about 500 small negative cubes booleaned out of the main structure. Every floor has on the outside a transparent, panoramic walkway (torus) that connects the two halves of the building. The slices were then replicated and slightly reduced to provide the glass-reflective surface of the tiny windows. The center shaft (which in the more detailed one will host the elevators) is a simple cylinder. Polygon count 14328. ***___*** Hope you like it. Lemme know, and have a nice week. --- Stefano ---

These are very well done buildings. I am rather curious to see the details you mention in the descriptions. I also wonder how the whole city project is coming along. I imagine it is just in the beginning stages if these are the first buildings modelled for it. If these are any indication, it should be a splendid project once all said and done.

Auguri e ancora congratulazioni. :o)

whee:) and i missed it again so i ll be prolly last one to comment here. very neat:) am glad to see someone using bryce for modelling:) one note though.. thing buildings stand on seem kinda umm.. big compared to size between floors.. and trees are a bit too big imo (considering their shape its unlikely (well at least so it seems to me) that a tree would grow up to fourth floor - referring to bottom left image).. anyways:) keep on building they look great

These buildnings are absolutely great, and each in its own respect, can't pick one for my favourite. I'll be looking forward to see the entire project rendered. Nice week to you too.

These are great! I have modeled buildings in bryce before so I know how long it took you on some of these. Thoug most of my buildings were in ruins it's good to see shiny new ones:o) Awsome job on the texturing also. Excelent over all in my vew.
