Description
For the ultimate effect, read Poe's "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar." The tree is dead but somewhat animate and retains an eery grasp on this living world. Mesmerizing.

JordyArt

Ah, a very Tim Burton tree.

This is one of the most powerful pic's I have ever seen. This is just too good to be true, this is just stunning, sorry I must watch the image, can't write anything more...

This is one of the very images, where i can't believe it's a photo. Usually, if i'm stunned it's the other way round: The image is rendered and i can't believe it's not a photo ;) Absolutely stunning shot!
cynlee
wow- provoking errie silence & numbing coldness- amazing shot! unbelievable! ...1st post? welcome to Rosity :)

Gotta agree with Tschibo00. Am I right in thinking that this was either shot with a filter, or manipulated in Photoshop? If this is a straight shot in natural light, I'm awestruck.

Love how the branches reach out. CwH

If this is an actual low light shot it's amazingly well done.....even if it isn't....excellent image.

I used Photoshop to give this picture a darker and gloomier look. The original pic is on my website www.mango.essene.ca Thanks for the comments. I am excited to have discovered this art community.

I will add one other thing that adds to the creepiness of this picture. The mountain you see in the backgroung buried a whole town. There was a huge rock slide in the early 1900's. The tree was probably alive back then.

dark but awesome and detailed

I am disappointed that this brilliant piece does not have the mark of 'excellent'. Excuse me for saying so, but there is a lot of rubbish on this site that seems to get an excellent for no good reason - I thought the ranking was a tool for artists to gauge the applicability and skill of their work - not a popularity counter! This is a masterpiece full of drama and dread, with brilliant composition and lighting. Well done!!
