"Fractals? Me? No sir!"
Created in Ultra Fractal.
The "no" sign I serendipitously found in Fractint back in 1993. BIOFractals...more fun than any computer game.
I first discovered fractals in 1989 and found Fractint in 1990. Oh, the pain of watching the basic mandelbrot set draw itself on a 1MHz PC, and in only 16 colors. Trying to cajole a boss into getting me a floating-point processor. Not a chance.
In 2001 I discovered Ultra Fractal -- Fractint to the power of Photoshop. Amazing. Mesmerizing. As full of surprises and twists as falling down a spiral staircase. The joys of layering. And, still, the pain of generating, say, fBm texture on even a 1.7GHz PC.
I started out as a so-called traditional artist and still like to put pen and pigment to paper. Favorite medium: watercolors. Some of the most appealing fractals to me are the ones that have the texture and "happy accident" look of watercolors.

Suggestions--none. Impression--a place in the mind's eye. I love it.

A comment from the keyboard-challenged artist. Hig! Should that be Pig? I meant "High." Then again, maybe "Pig Country Mirage" would be a better title.

I was vacillating between high and big...hig! This is beautifully impressionistic. Truly art.

I think these two UF circa 2002 images are excellent and unique examples of "suggestion and impressionism"...thanks for sharing.

REally lovely - does give the impression of wide open spaces in the high country (pig???). I love it! Thanks.

I liked the "hig" waves hitting the mountains. And the blue sun. Just perfect.

Gorgeous abstract. I see a sunset during a blizzard with snow drifting up against a barbwire fence. Beautiful artistic piece.
