Description

This is a major update to the previously posted pic. I completely re-did the sword and now the blade looks definitely better (though not exactly what I wanted).

Good work. I don't work with 3d max so cannot fully apreciate your work. However, since you ask for improvements... I would change the color of your 2 backgroud wall to something warmer to accentuate the effect of your candle.

That's a badass sword, great modelling.

Nice textures. The blade looks too flat, like there is no edge. It's still a nice image though :)

Thanks 3DGuy for the links, the site had a lot of good stuff to use as reference. It's a shame this pic doesn't show off the reflections on the blade and the detailed handguard (is that how it's called?), I might post something that does.

Anyhow, you've got a good start, but I miss some things:

  • Wavy patters around the sharp edge
  • a ridge along the blade
here is a good example of what I mean. Here's a closeup of the tip of the blade.

PS.. did some looking for you and http://www.bugei.com/ has some nice swords and reference material for you, just browse the swords catalog and such and you'll find plenty of good stuff.

Very good. Huge improvement on the blade. Thumbs up :)
