melissa, i love your art. it's so soft, beautiful, and mysterious. it always seems to be surrounded by the echoes of a time forgotten somehow. your paintwork is wonderful, and your mystical subject matter is very close to my heart, so you can be sure your art always touches me in the biggest of ways. :)!

The craftsmanship and artistry is very elegant. Althought, it looks like she's suffocating the baby.

I like the concept, but there is a big flaw in that the poses are about as natural as plastic. The mermaid should not be kneeling on the rock; that's not confortable. She should be sitting on it, and "legs" can be curled. She should also be supporting the baby's weight; the baby should sit on one arm. It looks like the baby is holding on by having its head pressed hard against the breast. The hand holding its head is okay, but the hand needs to look supportive, like it's cupped gently around the babay's head. it will not be easy to get it to look like it's cradling and not grasping, but it will be worth it. If they were under water, the bad arm would be okay, but keep the scene above water (like you have it) for the nice scenery. The baby looks to be in a slightly wrong position, like it's too high. If she were leaning back against another rock this might look okay, but without such a rock, a more natural pose would be for her to not have her back arched like that, but instead curved forward some, and the baby suckling at a more dangling breast than what you've depicted. The look on the girl's face is perfect, but she should have her head down a little more to look at her baby. If you change the expression on her face, I'll hunt you down and whip you with a wet noodle! This scene has a lot of good in it, so when you're done redoing this, I'd appreciate a message or email cuz I'd like to see what you've done!

This is beautiful. As for how the lower body of a mermaid should be, well there isn't any real mermaid out there so who can say what is right. This DAZ model's morph only support the human like bends, so unless a new morph is made, a serpent like lower body positioning is not possible. Also the most famous mermaid statue in the world,Little Mermaid sitting at Langelinie in Copenhagen, has the same human like knee bend, so I don't see a problem with the composition.
