Description

Still working on this plaster head... My son and wife are laughing at me as I started working on it since the beginning of 2003. They call the head model "my friend". "He" really became my most patient friend who'll "sit for me" for hours and will never blame me for lack of likeness (like some girls-models :)
Nevertheless I like this work very much as plaster seems to "emphasize" the shadows. Ears (especially the right one), mouth and eyes are in store for me with this project. In case You have any advice I'll be grateful. Thank You very much in advance not to mention the time You took to take a look at the "poor creature" :)
Graphically Yours,
-Anthony.

I like teh way you're takin care of your friend. And I also have a funny way to call my "Ladies" since I was a very little child. They're all my daughters ;) Nothing bad in calling this your friend :)

It looks very good, especially the facial parts (mouth nose eyes). The ears look a bit "flappy", because it's as if they're viewed from the side wheras the rest of the face is viewed straight on. I think you can cut of half the width of the ears. Please tell your "friend" ;)

It's looking great...keep that patience level up, both on you and the model ;) Can't wait to see this finished. Gonna go for softer pencils for the darker shadows?

LOL! Where would we be without our friends!! You are doing really well with this, great progress. I agree with Rik about the ears, the angle of his right ear is better. I like the way you are really thiinking about the anatomy of the head. Looking forward to seeing more!

There is some advantages in doing a surreal human head the Ears can be how you want them but even so may look better more pinned back. I love the patient way you are building this up, well done!!

Quite a massive undertaking, but it looks like its coming along quite well, yes we do get attatched to things we have worked on for awhile, after putting so much work into them its hard to come to the finishing stages, almost like losing a friend, I know how you feel, I will be most interested in seeing the way this turns out..

quite an inspiring undertaking- only your "friend" truely understands you & not everyone is lucky enough to have flat ears

It's marvelous to see how you spent a lot of time with your "friend", how you put your talent in and how your work is growing. Keep up, you'll perfectly finish!

Anthony my friend - this etching is a grand example of how you are dedicated to turning out artwork that is not only beautiful - but is technically and anatomically accurate. You are in a sense, becoming like the old masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo and a few others - all of whom were not satisfied to simply portray the human body, face, hands and various poses - but strove to understand why they look the way they do through the study of both the skeletal construction, and how and where the muscles were positioned, and what effect they had on the expression and function of anatomy. It takes considerable time and practice to portray anatomy correctly, and this render is an exceptional and praiseworthy effort. Your work pursues a degree of excellence that few others even attempt - so I say congratulations - and I know you will continue to improve with each new endeavor because you care from your heart about what you render. Bravo my friend.
