Description
This is one frame from a LightWave animation of a drive down the Suitland Parkway. The scene includes over 19,000 trees correct to type, height and location over terrain mapped with aerial imagery. Due to the large number of trees and transparency maps; individual frames took anywhere from 3 minutes to over 6 hours to render. The slight ghosting of some of the trees is due to some over lap of the image maps of separate trees. Since this was for an animation, correcting this ghosting problem wasn't necessary.

Woohoo! This looks like a fun animation - any chance that we could have a sneak peak at the drive through animation? I'm not sure that it would've mattered in the animation, but the road might have looked better with a bit of modeling. Well done, sir.

Puma, those trees are great! They look pretty darn good to me - any chance you might tell us how you did it?
