Right click on the beam for properties, set g-buffer object channel to 1, go to rendering>effects>add lense effect>lens effect paramaters>glow>under glow elements rollout, click options tab, set object ID to 1 and mess with settings. I know this is very general but it's actually not to hard. You'll see if you follow these instructions. Good Luck!
