Description

This is my latest design. Still not completely finished as i have to add weathering to the joints and the cannons on the arms.i thought i would add some troopers i modelled a while back to give a better perspective on the walker's actual size. I didn't spend to much time texturing them as i was concentrating on the walker. Any advice on improvements will be appreciated especially in the areas of texturing. Also i want to create a scene for this mech but at the moment i can't think of one, any suggestions? Thanks for viewing Malakh

I'd keep a version without the weathering, for those corporate advertisements :) As for an active scene, maybe two of them in the midst of a battle between some of your troopers, mowing down enemy lines with their gats. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, this totally rocks!

Nice design indeed. The gun setup reminds me a lot of Blue Gender, which had some nice macha designs... deeply cool work here dude.

this looks awsome!!!!! As for the weathering, here's my tips: add a broken up spec map to catch some hilites. also, i'd bake a grunge layer to bring out some details then multiply that over your color map. Attached is a link how: http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutorials/rendering/lw_baker_beethoven/lw_baker_beethoven.html Also try a noise procedual in thats black, stretch it out vertically. then put that over the color. it's a cheap way of doing dirt and grime drips. Hope this helps. well done! Pete

This is an awesome model! :) Try increasing the contrast at joins, welds, "buttons", and pockets (like the armpit there) to give the impression of internal machinery (makes for some additional visual complexity.) Add some sharpened segmenting on the little cables and power conduits. Put a fine toothed edge on the bottom of the feet for traction where the paint has rubbed off the points. Slap a fast-frensel layer on the guns so they look a little more dramatic and intimidating (Blueing on the guns would be so cool!) Add some "stretched" noise to the various metal pistons and things to get that streaky "lube" look. And add some cargo slots at the thing's rear where the crew would store some extra gear, like a built in collection of tools to repair or replace the foot pads if one should happen to break off in the middle of a long patrol, or some chains to help extricate a comrade 'mech should one become mired in some unhelpful terrain. Little extras like that on the model would just blow away the viewer.

Sorry I missed this one, I didn't join until April 2002, what fantastic design, I really like your approach to creating action oriented characters, this highly detailed but still retains personality. Will you animate any of your creations? By the way Superb work

It was seeing this as your avatar with the comment you left under a Stonemason piece that brought me to have a look through your gallery. I don't know Lightwave at all but, if Max or C4D are anything to go by then, you've obviously put some work into this. All of it productive. It's a brilliant concept and brilliantly executed. By the way, the comment you'd left was "Crazy...its simply crazy how good u are. Congrats !!!!". Well,...so are you.
