Description

...where do I have to dig that bone and where`s the next tree??? Hi there! This is my latest image. It`s my version from the robot AMEE who was in my point of view the mainactor in the movie Red Planet. First I only wanted to test if I can make the eye... and this is the result. O.K. enough of that, now some infos about the work: Groundtexture done with PhotoShop all the rest was done with C4D... love that proggy! Rendertime: a bit more than 7 hours normal radiosity, no HDRI. also used tool: my brain, LOL... I hope ya like it and thanX for taking the time to view my work. Feel free to leave any comment here, I enjoy every of your comments... the good ones a bit more (LOL)! yours FAKE ~{o;)

Wow Guido, typically amazing work. The textures on that doggie are great! That has to be the best DOF I've ever seen done. Are you using version 8 yet??? Excellent and a vote for the Hot 20 from me my friend - dano

ThanX dano, yes I had the luck to render this scene in R8, the renderengine is stunning, also the settings for the dof are great done by maxon, it`s worth every bug to update!!! Ah, and thank you for the top20-vote.

Very nice, as always, but, one thing bothers me... The shadows should in my opinion be a bit more visible. At least where the legs touch the ground. Area shoadows maybe, although that would increase rendertime a lot.

Great modeling and posing of the bot. The lack of stronger shadows where the floor and bot meet is distracting to an otherwise perfect image. Good job!

Yes the light... I just wanted to have the fx of a verrrry soft light... maybee it`s a bit to soft... in the next scene I will use other lights, I swear...lol Thanx for the great comments!!!

Your modeling skills amaze me... this is - as always - an excellent work. (you should send it to the "La Creme" gallery : http://www.c4ddesign.de).

Good work! A tip on the shadows, if you don't feel like re-render the complete scene again: remove the background elements so you only have your main character left, remove all lights, environments and so on, and finally replace all your textures with with a single shader with only the Luminosity-channel (white) activated. Render against black background and use this as an alpha mask in Photoshop to darken and then blur the areas where more shadows are needed. A simple but effective trick I've used several times :)

why don't you just use multipass rendering instead? It's nice work, but they're right, there's essentially no benefit you've gained from using radiosity in that scene. Consider increasing the 3d relief of the walls, and using those strips for illumination in a very limited sense, turn off radiosity because it's wasted on a scene like this and start building in some atmosphere with the enviroment and the shadows. Lovely work on Amee, but I do feel it was Val Kilmer that was the star ;)

I got to see Red Planet many orbits ago, and I found this robot to be one of the most frightening menaces since the creatures in the first Alien movie. In this gorgeous render of this little Bot however - you have portrayed him as something more akin to a household pet like a Cocker Spaniel - which I love by the way. Your mastery over getting a true metallic look and feel is simply 2nd to none my friend. I see absolutely nothing wrong with one square centimeter of this image, and certainly not in the lighting. It seems the better an artist you are in these forums - then the more risk you run of unflattering, (and imho - unfair criticism). Why people cannot look at the good found in the work rather than dwell on what they THINK is wrong, totally escapes me. I somehow think that the word jealousy fits into here somewhere...lol. This is a remarkable piece of work my friend - and beautifully presented with a sweet dash of humor. Out of 10 I give it a 39!

Because hes a werebot:P Seems there is some, but very very weak... With this kind of lights maybe he really would look like this... I dont know. Excellent usage of DOF, it adds twice as reality as the rest:) The bone looks a bit less realistic than other obj, this is the only disadvantage I can be sure about.
