I agree, nice image. And I also agree that you're entitled to your opinion, although I disagree with the idea expressed. I feel that free people have an obligation to stand up to aggressive dictators and lend aid to those suffering under oppressive regimes. Those people would probably give anything to have the freedoms of expression we use here daily.

Good picture. You should make it available somewhere where people can e-mail it to their govornment, whatever country. An unrestful peace is always better than the death of innocents.

In response to "FreeM", Yes, actually I do believe it has more to do with than oil, for America anyway. If all america wanted form Iraq was oil, we would simply buy it from them. We have not imported any of our oil from Iraq in many years. The coutries opposing the war with Iraq such as France and Russia are doing so because of oil concerns. France and russia buy a lot of their oil from Iraq and if we go to war, their supply from there will be cut off for a while. So, in a way you are right that it is about oil, just not for America. > Not a bad image, you have a right to your opinion. My opinion, however, differs. I believe the US should take out Saddam, and think we've waited too long as it is, the UN is a complete joke.

Saddam Hussain got his weapons mainly from the US. They never worried about him being a dictator when he waged war on Iran. Osama Bin Laden is trained by the CIA, and wanted to fight WITH the US against Hussain when this guy occupied Quwait. At first the US agreed with Hussain taking it, but afterwards they changed position because Quwaity pumped millions of dollars into advertisement campaign. Bin Laden is against Iraq so this war is not against the terrorists that demolished the two towers of the WTC. France, Russia and the others are only against this war because there are other ways to solve this specific problem. Hate can only generate more hate.

Sorry Aneaus, Saddam got most of his weapons and chemicals and equipment from France and Germany. Yes, he got some from the US during the Iran-Iraq war but since then it has been from France!

I agree with FreeM. It's clear from months my position. I see though that it all about our opinions depends on the type of information and propaganda we are submitted to, one way or another. Americans in wide part believe what they have been told by thei governaments, as others in European countries does from their part. All these pieces of information are partial, so I could be wrong, or others could. the point is I don't think there's ever a good reason for a massacre like teh one is gonna take place in Iraq. And the point is that after the war, the terrorism won't decrease. It will grow. Like the instability in all our Countries. Usa have been given as much weapons to Irak as Germany and France though. And that's a fact. Were Usa wrong by then? sure. And they are wrong also now, in my humble opinion. But we will suffer the consequnences after, and after they'll blame other visions and not theirs.Plus, Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with September 11 (although for what I care about Saddam, a bloody dictator, that has no to sound like a justification: he's a terrible man, but so are the currently existing 78 bloody dictators in teh world. And USA won't move against all of them, because they have not petrol Usa want to remake running their stalling economy): Bin Laden (another one that Usa gave weapons to when he was against Russia in the 80s.. another "mistake")has always considered the regime of Saddam "unfaithful" as it's a not religious based one. This is story. The war brings war. ALWAYS.We have to struck this in our mind, but it won't work. As I wrote somewhere else, the industry of war is always a rich one, that major Countries won't decrease. No matter if this causes the death of half of the world. But it's not fair. Whatever you can say about it, to kill is not fair.

We have to kill Saddam...not the poor people. Milosevic, Bin Laden, Mullah Omar are alive...but so much people died... Terrorism wants to hit America...and the poor people die...America wants to hit Terrorism...amd the poor people die...so, what does it mean? (I'm sorry for my english)

I agree with Aneas and Great Gonzo, in general. I'd like to add a couple of points: (a) There is NO evidence that any Iraquis were involved in Sept 11. Zero, zip, nada. As Aneas notes, Hussein and Bin Laden are old opponents (of different religious sects, tribal backgrounds, and cultural mores, too). Most of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, and NONE from Iraq. Intelligence agencies in the US and Europe have ALL concluded that there's no evidence for an Iraq link to al-Quaeda, or to the Sept. 11 tragedy. I read that some 45% of the US population think we're going to war in retaliation for Sept 11. I only hope that it's not true that we're supporting this course in some vast misunderstanding (encouraged by the Bush administration for their own purposes). (b) There's a lot about oil involved here. Bush's family is deeply involved in Hallburton. Guess what company will be deeply involved in reconstructing and using Iraqi oil fields once they're secured by US troops? Things that make you go "Hmmmm." (Did you know Hamid Karzai, the US-backed new leader of Afghanistan, is a former Unacoal employee? And that he recently signed a massive contract for a cross-Afghanistan oil pipeline with... Unacoal? Hmmmm. See Ted Rall, "Gas Wars".) (c) Yes, it's apparent that namy governments are going to make this decision regardless of what the population thinks. I've been collecting poll numbers for US allies in this matter; they range from 52% against a military strike on Iraq (Britain) to 94% against (Turkey). Coalition of the willing... governments. And we're going to war to "restore democracy" in Iraq? How about starting with our allies, eh? (d) Nonetheless, I do think individual citizens have the responsability to speak up. The governments may not listen well, but they have been taking public opinion into some account, and the more voices are heard, the more they'll have to take notice. The Internet offers a possible platform for real, global, direct democracy, so I applaud all those who use it to discuss and debate these important questions. Especially those who do so with respect for each other - even opponents. I am glad to see voices from all sides.

Pretty nice, graphically. I'd even say I agree with the sentiment it expresses, in a general, ideal sense. Given the context and your subsequent commentary, I don't agree with it entirely. I'd love to see the situation solved without war. However, it appears that Saddam Hussein will continue to tyrannize his people and threaten the rest of the world until he is removed by force. Since the Gulf War, he's continued to flout every UN resolution and continue secretly building weapons of mass destruction while violating human rights all over the place. Iraq has hosted Al-Qaeda training camps, and Iraqi agents were in contact with Mohammed Atta prior to September 11, 2001. If the U.S. had killed Hussein and set up a democracy in 1990, thousands more innocent Iraqis would still be alive. As it was, our reluctance to go any further with the highly successful Desert Storm campaign let him stay in power and gas, torture, and starve to death far more of his own people than would have died if the U.S. had simply gone all the way and forced regime change. War is inevitably cruel; a "peace" governed by the likes of Hussein is even crueler. The U.S. has enough overwhelming force to make a war to oust Hussein relatively quick and successful, and I hope with a minimum of civilian casualties. Saddam has to go. It's better late than never.

Kim Yong Il is WORSE than Saddam... letting little children freeze to death with no electricity while he lives the life of Riley Despot on the backs of the so-called Proletariat. But we do NOTHING about him, who is right now engaging in nuclear blackmail. Why, in a year, we'll be dealing with N.Korea supplying every despot and terrorist in the world with nuclear weapons, and we carry on about Saddam having a few bombs... what hypocrisy have we succumbed to... no question I don't like Saddam, but there are BIGGER threats than him out there. I agree with others, its all about the oil and typical American shortsighted corporate thinking running the decisionmaking. If they had wanted really rid of Saddam, they had their BIG chance under Bush 1.0.
and since WHEN DID RUSSIA become an oil importer, the country that sits on the largest oil reserves in the WORLD??!! gosh, do Americans ever learn anything in school. Maybe France and Germany has concerns because of so many minorities from the Arab world has settled there. Having been face to face with a Kurdish demonstration against Turkey and America, having watched the SPD headquarters in Hamburg taken hostage by Kurd demonstrators, one even putting a knife to the throat of a secretary... you're damn straight they are worried about a war in Iraq. Its going to cause political instability in Europe.

One of the important factors in this incedent is that Bush seems to see the word "freedom" as meaning "American style democracy." American democracy cannot work in many places, including Iraq and turning Iraq into a puppet state is ultimatly going to be a bad thing. Additionally the reason that 9-11 happened in the first place is because of pushy American foriegn politics. If the US would just realize that they have no right to interfere in other countries internal business and stop trying to "protect" people who don't need their help then I'm sure people would like them a lot more.

When the first shot was fired in this war everyone became the same, I hear the generals and politicians saying "We are here to stop the regime from kicking down peoples doors, and dragging people off at gunpoint never to be seen again"... Then I turn on Sky News on Sunday and I see our troops kicking down peoples doors and dragging people off (will their families ever see them again?) Bush and Blair saying that showing POW's on TV is wrong but remeber the people after September 11th in the red overalls with their hair shaved off being 'peraded' on international TV by the USA? and please... what the heck is friendly fire? Can sombody please explain to the families of the UK Tornado Crew, the ITV News crew and all the rest WHAT THE HELL Friendly Fire is! Also... 75 Billion dollars, this would be the money they didn't have for the schools, the police or to make their own county a safer place. Or did Bush look under his mattress find a load of cash... just in time for a war?

I love to see when ANYONE causes a commotion regarding politics and international relations. I don't think we are involved enough in the areas that matter. Rather, we waste time harassing our neighbors about little shit that really shouldn't fukin matter anyhow... my two cents. Thanks, FreeM for your inspiration. My your ripples spread farther than this small space.
