Description

When I found out how limited Bryce was in certain areas, I migrated my attention to Lightwave. What a difference. Hypervoxels, unlimited texture layers and complete control over lighting. This image I must admit used a little Bryce (mainly for its spray paint preview renderer) and renderer to preview composition quickly. The Image its self is all Lightwave, and a dab of photoshop to touch up some persistant details. I have to admit it but we have MAX at work and find it's modeler easier to use. Enjoy the eye candy

Thanks, I used the full array of LW tools, Motion blur, Particle Blur, Glow, lens flare, hypervoxels, Animated textures, and tons of parented and non parented lights. On a dual processor 933 mhz machine it takes around 7 minutes per frame to render at 640X480 at a enhanced medium antialias. But then I only 384 meg ram. It took 16 hours to render this clip, But I find that you end up with a bunch of frames to choose from to get that one great still. Rather than just trying to endlessly manipulate one image yo get to pick the best one by choosing from the various frames that lightwave renders, outputing the animated clip. I really is a nesessity to get credible motion blur effects as applying smears or blurs in post to static images 99% of the time looks just like that. Letting the ray tracer and the particle and motion blur filters do theie work rendering models that are actually in motion yeilds much better and convincing results. This is especially true if you apply a ghosting technique.

This is untterly convincing. I would have thought this was a screen still from the show. Great work!
