Description

This is a quick final to the Mandolin I've been working on. Rendered in Vray, modeled in max. For some reason, my anti-aliasing has been all tweaked in max, so i had to render in vray. Anyways. hope you like it.

Impressive. Where the stings attach at the bottem dosen't look quite as real as the rest, the refelection of it is great though. A wonderful work of art.

You've got all the parts there, just need to spread the strings out..some quick cutting and pasting will take care of that. My mandolin has 8 strings (4 groups of 2), but it's (literally) centuries past this one..;) I'm not sure, they may have had just 4 back in the day this came out. The neck looks different, I think the fretboard needs to be about twice as wide, fairly consistent in width (the distance between frets decreases as you get towards the body). The sound hole (whatever they call it) looks good, scrollwork of this nature was common in lutes, ouds, and sackbutt (I would love to see a sackbutt..you just gotta love the name..;)..only thing you might do is make the background behind it dark, to reflect the inner body. The tuning pegs are certainly different, but entirely plausible..something of this age would likely have wooden pegs, but not necessarily. The string ends going into the pegs would be be straight, since the strings are under tension
having said all that, the texture work is sublime, great shaping.. good reflections. Just a few changes, and you're there..looks great so far.

Good job. Nice reflections--they add to the piece.
