It actualy looks very nice, but how do you expect to get much in the way of reflections if you don't have a background, you need to put it in a sphere (with inverted normals) that has a texture map applied to it, it dosen't have to be visible , you can check it as 'unseen by camera' ,or better still go read the section in the manual on HDR (high dynamic range)

Thanks for the comment gerry, but I achieved the effect I wanted. I am aware of the two methods you mentioned, but sometimes the minimalist approach is the best, had I used a stronger reflection/illumination combo, I feel I would have lost the feeling of the piece. Sometimes the old ways are the best ways. Check out my gallery (though it's pretty old stuff). Take care, and 3d on! :-)
