great ship design, good textures. Good lighting on the ships, too - I get a sense of volume and size. Only two major complaints: the explosions in the b.g. need some sort of debris (IMHO), and - - why does everyone pick on Mars??!!

I agree; very very cool textures. And you might want to check out my tutorial (Clint posted it) in the tutorials section on building explosions in RDS....

I looked and liked your explosions. They have a good cinematic feel. The explosions in the background are nukes. I was using images of supernovas from the Chandra Observatory as a model because... well... that's all I had and what better way to find out what a nuclear explosion in space looks like. The image in particular that I was using as a model can be found at the top of the page here: science.msfc.nasa.gov/newhome/headlines/ast21sep99_2.htm

Nice work. I love the detail on you space ships. Is the planet in the rendering, or is it a layered shot in PS6?

The planet (and the glow around it)is rendered. The only post was the explosion. A smaller version of the texture is available at my web site: www.lightwavesgraphics.com/Poser.shtml I've also made them available in the Carrara/RDS Free Stuff Pages under General
