Description

Taking a quick step back to the conventional photos.... (But don't worry, I'll return to panoramas at a later time) ::: Part 8 of a series of Warbird Photos ::: Taken at the "Air Commandos" March monthly event at the Planes of Fame Museum on Chino Airport, California. (3/1/03) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Be sure to visit the world the famous "Planes of Fame Airshow 2003" on May 17th and 18th! -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aircraft is a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress. She's named 'Piccadilly Lilly II', and some of you have probably seen her in the TV show '12 O'Clock High' where she played a very big role. Currently she is sitting out front of the Planes of Fame Museum greeting all those who drive past. She's awaiting the 2 million dollars needed to restore her to flying status (So far only about $200,000 has been raised). She is open to the public on every monthly event, and unfortunatly is not in very good condition. Camera is a digital Toshiba PDRM-5 (2.15 MP) with Tiffen 2x Zoom. Image was resized from 1600x1200. - Comments/Questions are Welcome -

I grew up with her in Harlingen, Texas. She was at the Confederate Air Force base and I went to school across the street at the Marine Military Academy. She was probably one of my favorite planes. I've seen her fly around Galveston from time to time during airshows. Any pics of Fi-Fi?

Nope :( Unfortunatly, FiFi hasn't been around here in Southern CA that much. I'm waiting for her to make a stop at the Chino airport. (Or John Wayne as the B-17 and B-24 from the Collings Foundation do). But, the March Field Museum in Riverside has this B-29: http://www.warbirds.n3.net/open-ac-day02/images/pdrm1271.jpg
