Using other people's art to promote your own is a horrible, pathetic thing to do. Good job doing it, though. Hell, even I clicked.

'Horrible' and 'pathetic' are way overstating the case, and crass words to use in someone else's gallery.
This lighting keeps on getting better treemont; it has so much more atmosphere :-)

thanks, for the comments. shadowdragonlord: I understand where you coming from, I should have used one of my own pic (and next time i will), but the point of the image is not too "promote" my art, but to test a realistic lighting effect. And talking about "promoting": I could have been promoting the movie, which i love very much :)

Much better, i would still suggest about 25% soft shadow in the light from the screen. In reality each phosphor dot trio is a semispherical light source which in effect creates a massive array source. Thus the shadows should have a slightly blurry edge. Good image so far and I'm looking forward to where it goes.

Way good, treemont! It's improved a lot since the first one I saw. Now you just have to try something to blur a little the edge of the screen... excellent job so far!

Very nice pic, but the really good movie must be on some other channel, because this one is showing that fat bastard Peter Jackson's miserable, slime-dripping, ham-fisted rape of J. R. R. Tolkien's great work The Lord of the Rings, a crime against humanity for which the afore-mentioned stinking turd-stain of a New Zealander should be drawn, quartered and tossed to a pack of starving hyenas.

I'm happy that you all liked it. Incarnadine: great tip! I'll look in to it. DC: true, the screen has to be arranged. darkstarhellion: i agree that you can't beat the book, but the movie can't be copared to it. The Lord of the Rings is a work of a lifetime, the movie on the other hand is limited and it is a director's vision. And from CG point of view it's excellent. But once again let's concentrate on the lighting here :)

Wow, I loved the first one and I even love this more. Great lighting. Yeah soften the shadows more. Maybe add another lightsource to be able to see slightly what's in the pitch black backgtound, maybe a low intensity radial light with 100% soft shadows. I don't think there's anything wrong with using a 2d image. There are no rules that say so here. I think the book was a work of genius but I loved the movie also!!! You did an awesome job here.

THE LIGHTING IS FANTASTIC.The image is brilliant and would be no matter what was on your tv screen. If it was al bundy you probally wouldnt of been scorched a tad?Even though they look simular.I think the brilliant character on your tv shuffles the feelings of jealousy?Didnt the makers do themselves proud.Excellent work treemont..:)

ok this is what I think if you look at a tv in the dark you see yes a blured edge but also light sorta glows around the tv as wellnot much but it's there..I realy can't help you out sujetion wise of how to get that look but maby trial and error will do ..Other then that this is very well done.. I realy hope the duck is likeing this movie better then I did:( not to go aginst the grain but I realy thought the 2nd movie wasn't as good as the first one all well maby the 3rd one will make up for the 2nd one :)

I love it, treemont! As for 3 hours to render, I can really sympathize...my "Talisman" took 9 hours. Good work and I like your style!
