Description
In 1995 the volcano on the island of Montserrat awoke after about a 300 year sleep. Since that time the population has been reduced to half its size, and more than half of the island has been declared a restricted zone. I have a home under that volcano, and although I was not allowed to visit the area, I was able to get a few good shots of the puffing Volcano on my visit in September 2002. The background and the foreground are from photographs I took. The other vegetation is from the Vue program disks.

Oh dang! What an awesome immage ruined by over blow-up-ification! My recomendation is rerender the background and floorplanes! Thier blurry! =( Otherwise cool immage concept.

I think it's a really good blend of both, Dee.

Thanks for your comments! Globator: if you look at this image you will notice that there is ash being vented from the volcano this photograph was taken during an ash fall, it is kind of imposible to take the ash out of the picture is it not? plus I was there, this image is not from my imagination, it is a real situation !!

Nice use of alphaplanes joe

yep your beginning to get the hang of it joe try moving the planes farther back or closer too. too get higher definition..still looks good to me though..regards mate

Interesting technique Joe. I think it has worked quite well, but the biggest problem for me is the sudden transition from the slightly soft focus volcano and the sharply focused ground plane, exacerbated by the severely straight line dividing the two.

love it JOe!!! I have seen the photos and this does them justice. That sleeping giant caused a lot of real life troubles I know, but it definitely made for a gorgeous subject matter. Definitely a move up the ladder.
