Description

My second render for the march tS challenge. I was hoping to see a little more detail on the cube, but with the motion blur it washed out a bit. Still, thought I'd show it anyway.

Pretty cool. Do you think it will land "squarely" on the planet? :-)

I think that landing will cause more harm than the war in Iraq :) Whatever, nice pic. How about some stars in the background? I think it will look perfect.

sergo, you can only see stars when on the dark side of a planet, the sun washes out the light from them..... on the other hand, we have renderosity cube heading for the planet here, so maybe an eye candy star update could be in order.

Interesting idea, Carl. How did you achieve the burning effect? Plug-in or texture?

sue - heat burn was made by hand painting a texture and mask in photoshop, then applied to a sds'd cube in tS, which got pulled about to the appropriate shape. The cube and heat haze where the animated over 10 frames and rendered with motion blur over 6 frames to achieve the movement. This actually looked awful until I added the motion blur! lol!
