BIO
My name is Tim Jones. I am currently working at Digital Domain in Venice, CA as a Senior Digital Artist.  Before that I was a CG Supervisor at Blur Studio for 5 years. I graduated in May 2002 with a BS degree in Architecture and a BFA in Illustration. I have a strong background in traditional art. I began taking art lessons at the age of 7. I began teaching myself 3d in 1998. My father taught me how to extrude, lathe and change the UCS in AutoCAD and I was on my way. I created my first rendering with my dads copy of Raydream. A friend at school soon after introduced me to Truespace 2 which I fell in love with. I became obsessed with 3d and spent nearly every free moment teaching myself how to create anything and everything in 3d. I quickly outgrew Truespace 2 and its limited features. That same friend introduced me to 3d studio max 2.5 and I have never looked back. I still use Max as my program of choice.

Gorgeous scene. I'd prefer the railing and doorways to look a bit more realistic, though for the most part everything looks immaculate. You did a very fine job on the plants. The bricks also look spectacular.

i love the reflections under the bridge from the water...the whole scene looks great

Caustics with mental ray are nicer...

This is a simple scene? Looks like a lot of effort went in to this. The lighting and caustics are great. My only complaint is that the bricks on the arched underside of the bridge look a little flat. Still, tremendous work.

WOOOOOOOOW! This is just absolutely incredible! The light on the bridge is fantastic. And the modeling is awesome too! You've really managed to capture the feel of southern europe in terms of lighting, composition and texturing!

This is a fantastic work. I was in Venice and you have really been able to capture the atmosphere.
bibografica
Nice work but the perspective with the inside walls in the shades seems incorrect to me,in fact what i find disturbing here is the fact of the bottom left lobby and brick walls being too close to the upper one on the right and as a result seems to go nowhere,it should also be placed a little further away from the stairs to give a better feeling of depth, otherwise this is a great image especially well done concerning texturing, i really like it !

Great Work

Thanks for the comments everyone. After reading bibografica's comment I thought I should let everyone know. The perspective of this image was adjusted in photoshop because the vertical lines were coming together quite steep and I didn't like the look of it in an artistic sense. It was hurting the composition.

The Texturing and lighting again is fantastic. The caustics under the bridge gives added reality, and the texturiing on the walls is awesome. Great work as usual!!

Just joined! Great site with great scenes. This is my first venture into such a forum, but it won't be the last. This piece is just wonderful. The quality of the lighting under the bridge really captures the eye. It is the part of the composition that you keep returning to, however I shall continue to wander on.
