This is my first 3d animation with maya or nething else for that matter. The image is a render from a scene i am working on, right now it just seems really empty, and i dont know what to add so if you can throw in some ideas i'd appreiate it

Why dont you try adding some sun rays comeing from the roof (Volumetric Lighting), I think that would give it some atmoshere. you could also try adding in some Egyption like statues on either side of the central pillar and see how that looks. Looking good so far though

You can add some glyphs on the walls, too... and perhaps use a more interesting camera angle.

check out atom1972 "Portal to the Afterworld". taht would make a hell of an addition to what DD and morganah wrote also

Frankly, it is too symetric, and mathematicaly too precise, make some chaos with those pillar's. Also technically speaking, they are too many.
