this one is a real nice one! try unchecking smoothing in render settings and render pix in 1280x960 and them resizing them to 800x600 or less with bilinear (not bicubic) method - i.e. with little smoothing. sometimes it's good to wait till the image is rendered, but before the 'OK' box appears - you have then usually a couple of seconds to press PrintScreen and later paste/crop the image in some image editor. This is probably the best way of achieving the sharpest images in unregistered version of Tg :)
