Ok, so this is what i'm aiming at. I'm pretty satisfied with the design but i don't like how the containers blend with the rest of the model. They look like they're in another scale or something. I think I will rework them and put smaller details to them. The engins i inspired by the "Millenium Falcon" and the "maingun/shieldgen." (haven't decided witch yet =))is the work i'm most exited about. You'll see it when it's finished.
Ideas?? Tell me what you think.

Looks pretty good so far, you have a clear idea how you want to proceed. I did something like this once (albeit in Doga..which is cheating..;) Maybe a little longer, to accomodate more cargo containers. Cargo ships traditionally haven't been all that heavily gunned, usually fighters, destroyers, cruisers, etc., take up that job. Cargo ships are designed to provide the most space to cargo, and usually weapons take up space that could be filled by it. I dunno..maybe some cargo doors to facilitate offloading and onloading, possibly even some sort of cranelike device. Engines would be fairly big, because cargo is bulk, and it takes a lot to get bulk moving..;) Other ideas would be portholes (if you or anyone else ever think of a good way to do these realisticly, I'm all ears, as the Ferengi say..;) maybe some protrusions for the bridge, even escape pods, whatever...it's your ship, cap'n, so keep at it. Always interested in spaceship models..;)

Terrific start. I agree with all the major points that pakled has put forward. I like your idea of a shield generator for protection, but having a main gun is not something typically done.
If you have a look at any present day cargo transport vehicle, the ratio of cargo space to the actual guts of the vehicle is at least 2:1, as opposed to what you have here which is an almost 1:1 ratio. Might I suggest something more along the ratio of sea going transports, that are at least 10:1.
Would love to see more. :o)
