Description

Hi, this is my last test, about fakeing a floor in a hdri-scene. I think it works.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to make TWO comments on this one, as it's so superb...EVERYTHING about it draws my eye, and I LOVE the HDRI sphere. It looks so beautifully European! Schoemann, is it your own HDRI image, or did you download it from somewhere?

It's the square near Der Alster in front of the townhall in Hamburg isn't it?

Oh yes it works !!! the final touch would be to add a bit of film grain on the car to make it less "3D clean". So, What did you use ? a transparent plane for the shadows ? frontal mapping ? Please, tell us ! by the way did you see Jean-Claude's FIAT 500 ? http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=285746

Everything looks Great!!! Just one comment: the car looks like it is floating above the street just a little bit. I think the shadows near the tires need to be adjusted back under the wheels a little. The shadows come out from under the wheels too far, if the light source creating the shadows is to be believed. Even with soft shadows as in this rendering, the beginning of the shadows, those touching the tires would be more sharp, and then soften as they progress from the wheels and the underside of the car. As it is now it just feels like the car is hovering just slightly above the street. But, really, this still is one of the best car renderings I have viewed on this site! God, I would kill to know how to get such great reflectivity of of my metal surfaces...Well Done!!!

Looks just like a photo. Just needs a bit of grain for realism. Excellent stuff and one for the 3D Magazine galleries.

oops I guess with a flat wheel like that you won't see much behind them,, but turning them still adds a bit to the image I think,, also having a tred pattern is cool. =D
