Description

The wonderful gifts of the spring, morels - soon too appear :o) In Denmark, morels are often associated with elm trees (old and/or dying ones) on rich soils and with yellow flowers resembling buttercups (don't know what they're called in English). ************ Reworked version of a previously posted picture. New atmosphere, reworked textures and several new objects - including trees placed outside the camera view for shadow effects. Morels created with textures/bumps hand-drawn in Photoshop using my tablet. The flowers are from PlantStudio, textured in Vue. The trees are made with a combination of native Vue trees, and trunk-OBJs made with the "Shapemaker" freeware and also some by "Dan" in the Vue freestuff, the spring "elm" foliage texture is also drawn in Photoshop. Some of the other textures are freestuff, some designed by me. Rendered in Vue with soft shadows, 1,5 hrs. render. DOF is postwork in Photoshop (fast and effective - and I haven't figured out how to lock focus on specific targets in Vue yet). Thanks for viewing - comments appreciated.

In England morels are associated (dried) with plastic pots in supermarkets and speciality food shops - sadly I've yet to see one in nature. Still next time I'm enjoying their flavour, I can think back to your beautiful picture and imagine I've picked them from the wild.

Thanks for your very kind comments on this one. On Thomas' suggestion I've shrunk the the texture of the morel caps, and given them a slightly different colour - more realistic this time IMO. But morels come in many varieties and species, some are yellowish, some are more brown or grey. -- Flycatcher: Look on rich soils with elm trees and tree-stumps, the morels just might be there ;0) Thanks again.
