Description
Hi guys!
I'm back....
This was a test of my newest purchase. HD_Instance by happydigital. There are well over a million polys in this scene. No flat clip mapped trees here. They are full volumetric instances of a number of different tree models. I will post some frames from different locations around this 2 square KM terrain mesh once the anim is done. In case you're wondering, I used a PII 450 with 256MB RAM and LW 7.5 to render this at enhanced low AA, ray traced shadows and reflections SKYTRACER2 at 19minutes a frame 800X600.
What do you think?

What? No comments at all? Pointers, questions etc. They would all be appreciated. Roux

Calm down... hehehehe... I just woke up.
The sky is fantastic, you've gotten that down beautifully. Despite the different tree models you used, there still is some regularity, that could be tweaked even further. That's still minor, but I really suggest that you work on the foreground tree a bit more, specially the textures. I look forward to your next update. :o)

Thanks Moe! The forground tree is in fact an instance. I agree on the textures and the trees. i really didn't put anything into texturing the models cause I didn't know how well it would work. Needless to say its a dream. Will post more soon.
