did this a few days ago (had a poser prob to get fixed)... just a sphere, cloud mat and camera angle i believe.. i will do another today to make sure, but boy this turned out great! WOWed me! ;-)

Trying ot visualize exactly how to accomplish something like this with Bryce.. heh heh Sooooo much to learn, so little money [and time].. Demonstrates a rather daunting command of the tools at hand. Kudos.
